Text Box: 2008 CLINIC SCHEDULE

 “IN THE ZONE” RIDING

Oh, the joy of those days where you and your horse are doing everything in sync!  You just know what he’s thinking and he does everything you ask.  Our clinics are focused on providing aids to assist you in experiencing more than an occasional “In the Zone” ride.  Join us for a wonderful series, or just one clinic, to learn new techniques and tips for experiencing fun and exhilarating rides as the norm rather than an occasional surprise.

29 June                           GETTING “IN SYNC”

Learn how to access and compensate for you and your horse’s compromised confirmation for a higher level partnership. Explore DNA characteristics plus past experiences for you and your horse to ensure you use appropriate responses versus reactions for more effective work sessions and riding events. Our past experiences often create habitual physical responses.  We’ll look at how to focus on the task at hand rather than reliving the events of the day or the past and living in the moment like your horse. We’ll begin work on changing our heart rhythms with controlled emotions for clear thinking, faster responses and increased confidence — with an added benefit of better health.    All in all, making certain our own body functions coherently and we’re “in sync” with our horse for more of those “in the zone” rides.

13 July                     IT’S ALL IN THE SEAT!

Succeed in any riding discipline by learning how to think with your seat bones, using weight shifts and leverage for communicating movement with your horse.  Emphasis is on manipulating the frame of your horse to get proper self carriage, balance, rhythm and elasticity for effective and safe riding.  Learn how to remain calm and relaxed while feeling the appropriate foot falls and horse body parts.  Explore methods for establishing a solid connection with your horse before you enter the training session and continue for the duration plus how your thoughts and visual images impact your horse’s actions.  Learn techniques and practice how to discern personal fears from intuitive impressions of your horse to refine your connection.

3 Aug                     IT’S ON YOUR SHOULDERS

The synergy within the horse/rider combination is most apparent in the lateral balance and movement of the horse.  A person can literally block the horse's rib cage from bending.  Learn how your body position translates into a crooked and unbalanced horse.  Experience a new ease of riding with simple techniques designed to aid your horse's balance rather than work against it.   We’ll also explore how our thoughts and feelings change our body molecules and our horse’s body as they provide a mirror for us.  Some emotions are more effective than others in developing coherent relationships. We’ll experiment with our “gut” reactions and practice methods for enhancing intuitive intelligence using our body and emotions.  As an added benefit, we’ll test our stress levels with a new machine designed to evaluate our use of positive versus negative emotions by showing stress levels/variable heartbeats with the touch of your finger.

7 Sept                  CONNECTING THE DOTS

Due to limited space, selected participants will bring their horses in for observation and training purposes for class review.  Agreements will be established at the first clinic from among the attendees of the four IN THE ZONE clinics. All horses coming onto property must have a current negative Coggins and updated vaccine record.  Other students may provide a video of themselves riding their horse for instructor evaluation and feedback based on the teaching material of the clinic series.

               INSTRUCTORS and REGISTRATION INFO

KAREN GREENE created and continues to develop Hillcroft Crescent Farm, LLC, a 25 horse boarding facility with 126 acres of beautiful and serene property including numerous trails for leisure riding.  She bred, raised and trained Westphalians providing her with a superb understanding of warmbloods.  Karen has 30 years of experience as trainer and instructor leading to highly effective teaching techniques for dressage, eventing and show jumping.  She developed and utilizes a unique series of exercises focusing on balance and flexibility for both horse and rider. Her extensive skills working with a wide range of horse breeds and rider disciplines have instilled an appreciation for dressage in students who, otherwise, may never have considered dressage techniques.  Her widespread reputation has brought numerous students driving hours to train weekly with her.  Karen's common sense approach is her “secret” for instilling the joy of being at ease while being effective in the saddle.

Charlotte “Horse Arrow Root recently retired from working with the Air Force and currently assists Karen at Hillcroft Crescent.  She has a MEd in Physical Education with emphasis in Exercise Physiology, is a certified fitness instructor and hospitality administrator.  Charlotte holds three Reiki Master/Teacher certifications—one from Los Angeles, one from Angelic Devas in Yellow Springs, and one for Traditional Japanese Reiki. As a horse owner and avid Reiki practitioner, she developed the first “Reiki for Horses” course in the Midwest and has been teaching various equestrian and energy classes for 11 years.   She is very knowledgeable in how energy works, improving intuitive intelligence, and listening to your heart.  Charlotte’s guidance for increasing intuitiveness while improving your health creates more coherent relationships between horse and owner.
